Allianz Global Assistance extends presence in travel market
24/10/2011
Allianz Global Assistance has announced significant expansion plans in the travel insurance market beginning November 2011 with the appointment of a 15 strong dedicated team of national Travel Insurance Representatives to support travel agents around Australia.
Allianz Global Assistance Australia Chief Executive Officer, Ian Norris, said the move reinforces the company’s commitment to the travel industry and is a natural step in the company’s growth plan as Allianz Global Assistance continues to meet the needs of travel operators across the country.
“We have recruited the most experienced and respected Travel Insurance Representatives in Australia who will provide product development, training, sales and service backed by the dedication of a 24 hour call centre. We believe the future of travel agencies is bright and all channels to market have important roles to play in supporting customers to buy the best travel insurance products,” Mr Norris said.
“As we expand through product and pricing innovation, so too will our ability to support new and existing clients grow their brands and their customers. Increasing our capacity will ultimately strengthen the service we offer to our clients and, at the same time, help more Australians working and travelling around the world.”
Allianz Global Assistance has been part of the Australian business community since 1983 and is Australia’s only global travel insurance provider. We are the leading supplier of innovative e-commerce travel insurance solutions for some of the industry’s largest players.
“Today, we are Australia’s foremost provider of travel insurance and emergency medical assistance with over two million policies sold each year. We are the leading provider of premium roadside assistance to automotive manufacturers protecting over 1.2M motorists, and the leading provider of overseas student health insurance and assistance to Australian universities and higher education institutions,” he said.
The global assistance group, with operations in 28 countries, recently announced a consolidated turnover of 1.892 billion euros (A$2.53 billion) representing growth from the previous year. A 17% increase in net profit, or 67.2 million euros (A$89.9 million), accompanied revenue growth.
